Twitter for iPhone and iPad Update Lets You See Tweets Near You

Twitter updated its iOS app today to add the rumored feature that allows its users to see what's happening nearby with location-based trends. The update also includes improved Vine playback, smoother performance and more.

Included in the update:

  • See what's happening near you or around the world by viewing Trends in hundreds of locations.
  • Invite friends to join Twitter from within the app
  • Improved playback of Vine videos
  • Replies to retweeted Tweets now include both the author and person who retweeted the Tweet
  • Enjoy a smoother experience due to bug fixes and other improvements

The feature that allows Twitter users to see tweets nearby are not new. This was available in Tweetie, the app that Twitter bought and develop upon it to what we see today. It is also found on third-party apps like Tweetbot. But this time, this feature will display tweets tailored for the user.

Twitter for iOS is available for free as a universal app (iPhone/iPad/iPod Touch) in the App Store [iTunes Link].
