You Can Now Jailbreak your iPhone, iPad and iPod Touch Running iOS 6 and 6.1

The jailbreak is finally here. The group known as Evad3rs just released Evasi0n, a new jailbreak tool that provides an untethered jailbreak to all iOS devices running iOS 6 or later, including the iPhone 5, iPad mini, and iPad 4.

An untethered jailbreak is a method that doesn't require an iOS device to be connected to a computer every time it boots up, contrary to a tethered jailbreak which requires to have your iOS device connected to a computer when you have to boot it up.

In order to jailbreak your iOS 6 device, you will first have to:

  • Download Evasi0n for your computer (, , )
  • Install Evasi0n on your computer
  • Connect your iOS device to your computer
  • Backup your iOS device to iTunes or iCloud
  • Disable the lock passcode of your iOS device before using evasi0n. It can cause issues.
  • Open Evasi0n
  • Avoid using your iOS device and iTunes until evasi0n is complete.
  • If the process gets stuck somewhere, it's safe to restart the program, reboot the device (if necessary by holding down Power and Home until it shuts down), and rerun the process.
  • When Evasi0n asks to unlock the screen and tap the new jailbreak icon, do it once. The jailbreak app will open and close and will continue its process on the computer.

(Note: Jailbreaking your iOS device voids the warranty of the device and in the process you might encounter problems. Afterwards the performance of your device can be affected in terms of speed, battery life or apps performance. Proceed under your own responsibility.)
