How to: Report Unwanted Messages (Spam) in iMessage and Messages Mac App

Apple announced a way to report unwanted messages received via iMessage on an iOS device and the Messages app on the Mac. The process is simple and requires you to send an email with some important information.

To report unwanted messages send an email to with the following information:

  • Include a screenshot of the message you have received.
  • Include the full email address or phone number you received the unwanted message from. 
  • Include the date and time that you received the message.

On iOS, you take a screenshot by pressing and releasing the Home button and the Sleep/Wake button at the same time

On Mac, you take a screenshot by pressing the Command, Shift and the number 3 keys at the same time. The screenshot will appear in the Desktop.
